Evans Distribution Systems announced today that Doug Ostrowski, the company's vice president of transportation, has once again been reappointed to the Michigan Public Service Commission Motor Carrier Advisory Board for 2011. Ostrowski's one-year term continues his involvement as a liaison between the Michigan government and motor carrier industry by leading vital discussions on regional issues and transportation trends.
"Doug's experience and understanding of the state's transportation issues will help him make substantial contributions on the board," said Evans Distribution President John A. Evans. "We encourage our employees to participate within the industry and Doug's initiatives towards this goal are significant."
The Michigan Public Service Commission is an agency within the Department of Labor and Economic Growth, responsible for the insurance and safety regulation of the intrastate for-hire trucking industry and the rate and consumer protection regulation of the intrastate household goods moving industry.
The Motor Carrier Advisory Board facilitates a continuing dialogue among the trucking industry, consumers, other interest groups, and state government on issues, problems and solutions important to Michigan freight transportation. The advisory board consists of members representing the transportation industry and the shipping public in addition to ex-officio members of the Michigan departments of State Police, Transportation, Treasury, Secretary of State, and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Ostrowski has served in the transportation industry for 20 years and is a member of the Transportation Club of Detroit and the Detroit Regional Chamber's Translinked Committee. He resides with his family in South Lyon, Mich.
