
Hebron, KY. (July 1, 2011) Members of the Verst family celebrated the ground breaking of their latest expansion at their Hebron, KY third party logistics distribution operation. The expansion will double the size of their Hebron operation allowing them to accommodate increases in their contract packaging and 3PL warehousing divisions. When completed, the company will add approximately 25 full time and 100 part time workers at the facility.
Verst Group Logistics, is a family owned company that provides fully integrated packaging, warehousing / distribution, and transportation services.
The company employs more than 1,200 people throughout their 14 facilities which now include over four million square feet of space throughout the Midwest.

Evans Distribution Systems announced today that Doug Ostrowski, the company's vice president of transportation, has once again been reappointed to the Michigan Public Service Commission Motor Carrier Advisory Board for 2011. Ostrowski's one-year term continues his involvement as a liaison between the Michigan government and motor carrier industry by leading vital discussions on regional issues and transportation trends.
"Doug's experience and understanding of the state's transportation issues will help him make substantial contributions on the board," said Evans Distribution President John A. Evans. The Michigan Public Service Commission is an agency within the Department of Labor and Economic Growth, responsible for the insurance and safety regulation of the intrastate for-hire trucking industry and the rate and consumer protection regulation of the intrastate household goods moving industry.
The Motor Carrier Advisory Board facilitates a continuing dialogue among the trucking industry, consumers, other interest groups, and state government on issues, problems and solutions important to Michigan freight transportation. The advisory board consists of members representing the transportation industry and the shipping public in addition to ex-officio members of the Michigan departments of State Police, Transportation, Treasury, Secretary of State, and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Ostrowski has served in the transportation industry for 20 years and is a member of the Transportation Club of Detroit and the Detroit Regional Chamber's Translinked Committee. He resides with his family in South Lyon, Mich.

States Logistics Services Inc. of Buena Park, California received an Environmental Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency SmartWaySM Transport Partnership for its leadership in conserving energy and lowering greenhouse gas emissions from its transportation and freight activities. States Logistics has been a pioneer in the use of B99 Biodiesel (99% domestically produced soy-based diesel) and has aggressively implemented use the latest engine and aerodynamic technology. The combination of these "bleeding-edge" practices result in commercial vehicles that far exceed government standards in most measures of emissions.

Together, through the SmartWay Partnership, these companies, including States Logistics Services will eliminate six million tons of carbon dioxide that contribute to global warming, and save more 540 million gallons of diesel fuel - an economic savings of at least $2 billion a year.

Saddle Creek Corporation - part of the AWI network in Lakeland, FL recently published research they sponsored on current trends in outsourced packaging services.
The research revealed that manufactures who currently outsource a portion of their packaging needs are planning to increase their use of outsourced packaging services over the next 12 to 18 months.
The Report also found that nearly half (41.1%) of the 500 survey respondents outsource some or all of their secondary packaging services with (34.6%) outsourcing 75% to 100% of their value adding packaging requirements.
Several benefits are driving the decision to outsource value added packaging needs. The top two benefits sited by survey participants who currently use outsourced services include: "Increased flexibility" (64.5%) and "reduced costs" (62.1%).
